북한의 3차 핵실험 직후 주목을 받은(come to the forefront) 이란 과학자가 있다.

서방 정보기관들(Western intelligence agencies)이 이란의 비밀핵무기프로그램 책임자로 지목해온

(point out as the head of Iran's clandestine nuclear weapons program)

모흐센 파크리자데-마하바디 박사다.

북한이 3차 핵실험을 감행했을(carry out its third nuclear test) 때

그가 현장에 참관인으로 있었던(be present as an observer) 것으로 드러난 것이다.

그는 탄도미사일에 탑재할 수 있을 만큼 소형인 핵탄두를 조립하는

(assemble a nuclear warhead compact enough to be placed on a ballistic missile)

기술 개발에 몰두해온(sink his teeth into the technical development) 인물이다.

이스라엘의 정보기관 모사드가 자신을 살해하려고 기도할(make an attempt on his life) 것을 우려해

여간해선 이란 영토를 벗어나지 않는다고(rarely leave Iranian soil) 한다.

 

 

그런 그가 암살 시도를 무릅쓰고(in defiance of an assassination attempt),

죽음을 무릅쓰고(run the danger of his life) 북한을 방문한 것은

북한과 이란이 긴밀히 결탁해 있음을(be hand in glove with each other)

단적으로 시사하는(speak volumes about it) 방증(傍證·circumstantial evidence)이다.

이런 가운데 지난 18일 이란의 마무드 아마디네자드 대통령은

 북한에서 교육을 받은 전 고위 군(軍) 인사를 정부 요직에 임명

(nominate a North Korean-educated former military official for a key post in his government),

북한·이란 관계가 노골화하고 있다(become conspicuous).

북한 김일성대학에서 취득한 국가관리학 박사학위를 갖고 있으며(hold a doctorate degree in state management),

전 합참차장과 국방차관(ex-deputy chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff and former deputy defense minister)을 지낸

모함마드 나미가 정보통신기술 장관으로 임명된(be appointed Minister Of Communications and Information Technology) 것이다.

영어에 능통한(be fluent in English) 그는

인터넷과 여타 외부 정보 출처에 대한 이란 국민의 접근을 제한하기

(limit Iranians' access to the Internet and other outside sources of information) 위해

국가인트라넷 프로젝트를 주도해온 막후 인물(the man behind a national intranet project)이기도 하다.

이 때문에 그의 북한 '유학' 경험이 이란 국민의 인권을 북한식으로 탄압하고

(violate human rights in the North Korean way),

핵개발과 관련해 북한과의 유착 관계를 더욱 심화하는

(get more deeply involved in the back-scratching relationship) 결과를 가져올 것이라는

우려를 낳고 있다.
