호주 퀸즈랜드 경찰은 ‘세계에서 가장 기괴한 성범죄자’

(the world’s most bizarre sex offender)를 추적 중(be on the hunt for)이다.

범인은 최근 세 차례나 성인용품점에 침입(break into adult shops)했다.

하지만 이 범인(the perpetrator)은 돈이나 물건들은 거들떠보지도 않았다

(do not even glance up at the money or goods).

바람을 불어넣는 고무인형들(blow-up rubber dolls)만 잇달아 ‘성폭행’하고 부리나케 달아났다.

경찰이 확보한 증거에 따르면,

범인은 ‘정글 제인’이라는 이름의 섹스인형을 각별히 좋아하는

(have a particular like for a sex doll named ‘Jungle Jane’) 것으로 나타났다.

범인은 가게에 침입할 때마다 같은 이름의 인형을 훔쳐 가게 뒤편 골목에서 바람을 불어넣은

(blow up the doll in the alleyway behind the adult shop) 뒤 ‘성폭행’하고 달아난 것으로 보인다.

그는 자신이 범하고 싶은 대상에 접근하기 위해(to get to his desired loot)

가게 벽에 구멍을 뚫고 침입(smash a hole through walls of the premises)했으며,

섹스인형들과 일을 마친 뒤엔(after finishing with the sex dolls)

근처 골목에 버리고(leave the sex dolls abandoned in nearby alleyways) 달아났다.

 

 

범인은 최소한 두 차례(in at least two occasions)

DNA 증거물을 범행 현장에 남긴(leave behind DNA evidences at the crime scene) 것으로 알려졌다.

성범죄자들을 상대하는 한 임상 심리학자(a clinical psychologist who deals with sex offenders)는

“이번 경우엔 인형이 여성신체의 대용(a substitute for the real woman’s body)이 아니라

실제로 좋아하는 대상(an actual preference)이었던 것으로 보인다”고 말한다.

이 심리학자는 “이 같은 현상은 생각처럼 보기 드문 것이 아니다(be not as rare as one might think)”며

 “범인은 한 여성을 사로잡아 농락하는 환상을 실연(實演)해 보인

(act out fantasies capturing and seducing a woman) 것”이라고 해석했다.

또 “범인은 감금상태에 있던 그 인형들을 자신이 해방시켜준다고 여길 수도

(may even see himself as liberating the doll from the captivity) 있다”고 말한다.

주민들은 그런 사람이 아직도 잡히지 않고 있는 데 대해 우려를 나타내고

( express concerns about such a person still being at large) 있다.

범인은 보안비디오카메라에 모습이 잡혔으며(be captured on security video cameras),

경찰은 카메라에 나타난 키가 크고 깡마른 백인(a tall and skinny Caucasian) 용의자를 추적 중이다.
