가슴은 빈약하고 뱃살은 ‘풍만’한 여성이 있다고 하자.

그럼 가슴을 키운다고 실리콘 이식 수술을 할 것이 아니라 자신의 뱃살을 가슴에 이식해 풍만하게 하면 어떨까.

실제로 그런 의술이 곧 현실화된다고 영국 일간지 데일리메일이 13일(현지시각) 보도했다.

원하지 않는 비만부위(unwanted fat)가 자연스러운 가슴 이식용으로 이용될 수 있다는

(can be used as natural breast implants) 얘기다.

여성들에겐 일석이조(kill tow birds with one stone)의 효과를

볼 수 있는 낭보(a glad tidings)가 아닐 수 없다.

 

'배둘레햄' 군살을 가슴확대 성형에 이식 수술

 

이른바 ‘한 번에 둘’ 유방확대 수술(a ‘two in one’ breast enlargement operation)은

배와 허벅지의 군살을 가져다가(take excess fat from the stomach and thighs)

가슴으로 옮기는(move it to the bust) 것이다.

수술을 받는 여성들에게 이중의 효과를 보증해주는

(promise to give women going under the knife a double boost) 의술인 셈이다.

이러한 선구적 기술(this pioneering technique)은

미국과 영국에서 시험을 거쳐왔으며(have been tested in the U.S. and Britain),

내년 초쯤 영국 여성들에게 시술될 예정(be expected to be offered to British women by early next year)이다.

원하지 않는 부위의 군살을 옮겨 자연스러운 유방 확대를 만들어내는

(transfer fat from unwanted areas to create natural breast enlargements) 이 의술은

확대된 가슴에 비해 보다 자연스러운 모양과 감촉을 주는 것을 포함해

(including a more natural shape and feel compared with augmented breasts)

여러 가지 이득을 가져올(will bring several benefits) 것으로 보인다.

또한 딱딱하게 만들거나 모양새가 변형되는(harden and change shape) 등

인공이식과 관련된 문제들도 피할(avoid the problems associated with some artificial implants) 수 있게 된다.

다시 대체할 필요도 없어진다(do not need to be replaced).

이미 2500명 이상의 여성들이

8000파운드(약 1630만원)의 비용이 들 것으로 예상되는(be expected to cost ￡8.000)

이 수술에 관심을 표시(have already expressed interest in the surgery)했다.

이 의술을 제공하게 될 할리 메디컬 그룹의 멜 브레이엄 회장은

“지난 20여 년 간(over the last two decades)

성형과 재건수술 분야에 있어 가장 극적인 발전

(the most exciting breakthrough in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery)”이라며

 “환자 신체의 한 곳 또는 두 곳의 원하지 않는 군살을 가져다가 가슴 부위에 옮겨줌으로써

(take unwanted fat from one or two areas of a patient’s body and transfer it to the breast area)

한 번에 두 가지 이로운 경과를 가져온다(amount to two beneficial procedures in one)”고 설명한다.

그에 따르면 4~5년 전 이런 시술을 받은(have the procedure four or five years ago)

미국과 영국 환자들을 관찰한 결과, 그 결과가 지속적인 것으로 확인(confirm that the results are lasting)됐다.

이에 따라 이 의술은 인공물 이식보다 더욱 일반적인 것이 되면서

(become more popular than artificial implants)

10년 내에 시장을 지배하게(dominate the market within ten years) 될 것으로 예상되고 있다.

26개 성형수술클리닉 체인을 보유하고(have a chain of 26 cosmetic surgery clinics) 있는

할리 메디컬 그룹은 내년 초쯤이면 이 수술을 영국에서 상업적으로 이용할 수 있을

(become commercially available in Britain early next year) 것으로 기대하고 있다.

수술을 직접 담당하게 될 의사들 중 한 명

(one of the surgeons who will carry out the operations)인 제넥 프로스 박사는

“군살 접목을 통한 자연스러운 가슴 확대(natural breast enlargement using fat grafting)는

가슴의 크기를 키워주는 것과 더불어(in addition to increasing the size of the breast)

보다 자연스러운 모습과 감촉을 갖게(have a more natural look and feel) 해줄 것”이라고 말했다.

그에 따르면 신체 군살 재배치를 통한(by the redistribution of body fat) 이 의술은

(유방 크기에 있어) 3컵 정도까지 확대가 가능하다

(an increase of up to three cup size can be achieved).
