아버지가 20세 된 아들을

게으르고 불손하다는 이유로 고소(take son to court for his idleness and nefarious deeds),

아들에게 실형 판결(an actual prison sentence)이 내려졌다.

 

나이지리아 북동부 바우치라는 곳에서 시장 중개인으로 일하는 사말리아 타히르는

아들이 학교 가기와 생산적 활동에 종사하기를 거부(refuse to go to school and to engage in productive activities)해

가족의 수치가 되고(bring shame on the family) 있다며

최근 재판을 청구(submit the case before the court)했다.

 

아버지 타히르는 아들이 게으를 뿐 아니라

부모 말을 전혀 듣지 않고(be disobedient to the parents)

범죄조직에 가입해 있어 고소(accuse his son of belonging to a criminal gang)하게 됐다고

말한 것으로 전해졌다(be quoted as saying).

 

재판부는 이와 관련, 아들에게

6개월의 징역형과 30대의 회초리를 선고(sentence the son to six months in prison and 30 strokes of the cane)했으며,

회초리 형은 법정에서 즉시 집행(be immediately administered on the premises)됐다고

나이지리아 국영통신 NNA는 18일 전했다.

 

아들 자밀루는 자신의

혐의를 인정하고 재판부의 관용을 호소(admit the charges and seek for leniency)했으나

받아들여지지 않았다.
